High-End DDR Memory Prices - Week of November 29, 2004

Single Module DDR

The following chart outlines prices on name-brand, single module DDR prices. Weve taken a cross-section of the top name brands (as voted by Sharky readers), and when possible, used the highest-end module possible. In the case of Corsair, this translates into LL or Low Latency, while Kingston HyperX, Mushkin Level 2 (L2), and OCZ Enhanced Latency EL modules are also featured. Not all DDR clock speeds are available at these enhanced memory formats, and some of our PC4000 and up listings naturally use more standard timings and brand names. Tracked DDR is in the PC2700 to PC4400 range, but each vendor may have a different high-end speed, and might not offer all of the clock speed permutations.

Its another stable week on our single DDR module list, and the overall trend line actually shows slightly higher prices. Once again our chart included the usual mix of price increases and decreases, along with a pile of no-changes. In terms of double-digit price shifts, there were more ups than downs, with Kingston HyperX PC3700 512-MB jumping by $17 and both Mushkin PC4000 512-MB and OCZ PC3700 EL 256-MB rising by $11. The lone noticeable price cut is an $11 drop to OCZ PC3200 PS 1-GB, which is not exactly going to set the world on fire. There were a lot of smaller price cuts, which outnumbered the increases, and led to a pretty good week for most DDR brands and speeds.
